Over the days 7-27 and 7-28 I was able to exhibit some work at the Sand City West End Festival in Sand City, California, along the Monterey Bay. Sand City is a sort of industrial park neighboring sand dunes. In recenet years the city has invested in public art works and a street festival. Having taken part in an early one, in, I believe 2007, this year was something of a homecoming for me. I was able to display my 7 large chakra paintings, each 7 x 3.5'. I was also happy to draw a chalk mural for the event. I drew for about 6 hours on the Friday before the event and managed to come up with a decent figure design and a basic mandala form. On Saturday I chipped away at the figure design but never really brought the mandala to a full state. The first day's location was in a back corner and not ideal for traffic flow but the second day I moved to a main thoroughfare which was much better. I was grateful to have my partner and family there to help out. A fun, dazzling weekend. On Monday I managed to catch up with my old painting teacher, Dante, from way back.
Drawn over the days 8-6 and 8-7, 2022. A lovely summer day today. The outlines the first day. Chpped away in the morning and finished it in the evening. Mid-day a trip to the East Bay for a session with the Dungeons and Dragons group.
