Dragon's Head Color Continuum
******************************Drawn the day of Friday, 3-29-2013. Dolores Park, San Francisco, California. I feel like this one almost killed me. In combination with drawing chalk the evening before and playing hackysack (with out stretching first) for the first time in many months, the long grueling day proved to be a bit much. My back has been a bit sore but I'm returning slowly to normal.
The day of this drawing a small group of latin high school toughs were smoking and drinking 4Loco on the steps next to me. Later, after they dispersed, one of them was stumbling around on the bridge and made that odd gargling noise as he hurled.
I enjoyed the design of this one. The idea was that it was a recast of the 'Ouroboran Lizard Self Defense' piece but I didn't really have a chance to do the full treatment. I had planned to draw an indication of the lizard's other hand.

Ang Star Expulsion
********************************The evening of March 28, 2013. A late start and a basic 7-pointed matrix. A pleasant night. Spent an hour or so drawing this, then went up to the coffee shop nearby to draw with the comic folks, in preparation for the pen and ink show next month.
On the train home I spotted a kid doing some fancy yo yo tricks.

Avatar-King and Bird-Dragons' Destruction
****************************The evening of March 14, 2013 in the environs of San Francisco, California. The meeting of minds at the meeting of Mission Street and 16th Street.
Upon arriving at the usual 'plaza', I was able to get an hour or so into my chalk drawing, one I had been formulating in my head, and was going pretty well.
The idea was a 'mechanical/geometric' face with two phoenix/quetzalcoatl-ian creatures forming a wreath around his head. A loose circular shape. I was enjoying the 'popiness' of the colors in their bright neon angles.
Then, to my suprise, the city power-washing crew shows up. "Power washing the plaza. Just doing our jobs."
The area definitely needs daily washing. Usually they come later in the evening, after we've left.
So this was quite an occurrence, visually.
An alchemical eruption in the meeting of hydrology and calcium carbonate.
The immediate dissolution of the chalk matrix.
A bit annoying to not be able to finish a piece I was getting into. Right in the middle of a promising design; mid-flow.
After the washers got into their truck and left, I formed the basic 'single' circle.
In another first, I had my poet friend Gallagher stand on the circle device with one foot while he performed a poem for the group.
A chalk circle done on the fly!

Weathered Folding Bloom Device
****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************This is the evening of 3-7-13. A wet and cold night. The wetness actually helped with the execution, however. The lines smoothed in a much more 'pasty' way. Of course, they also dispersed more quickly. The erosion process was fascinating to watch.
The day before, I had taken part in an art show in Monterey, "Shake the Dust". It was held at the State Theatre, a historic Alvarado Street building. This was a fun homecoming for me.

Wide-Spectrum Star Loom
**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Drawn the day of March 1st, 2013. Dolores Park, San Francisco, California.
A good day for drawing, warm and sunny. Had fun sampling the colors of the newest crayola set. The colors are especially juicy. There is a black chalk now, and one that is close to red.
Ice cream at Xanath afterwords was excellent.
