This was a small piece I did on Dolores Street on 7-14. I had been drawing the day before on Haight Street (Moon Priestess). I had assembled all my gear and returned to the spot to work on it some more, but found that it had been mostly shmooshed. Nonplussed, I eventually walked back to the Mission and drew this near Maxfield's coffeeshop. The idea came from a photo I found of some ancient carved statues of lions of the Hittite people. It was fun doing this one that day. I remember a group of kids who lived in the area were interested in what I was doing, and kept plying me with questions.
